The Locally Lambton Food and Fun Map helps support many purposes, and the objectives for producing this map are to:
- Provide support for the local farmers by connecting consumers to local primary producers;
- Promote the importance of purchasing local produce to reduce environmental footprints;
- Help Lambton residents increase their vegetable and fruit consumption as well as promote physical activity through Pick-Your-Own farms.
- In all, help improve their health status.
Over ten years ago a number of local community members, producers and organizations partnered to initiate the development of a Locally Lambton Map in 2006 that supported and facilitated the concept of buying locally in Lambton.
The initial map was very well received and prompted the Lambton Federation of Agriculture to continue with the production of updated versions in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Most recently in 2014, with 35,000 copies printed and distributed locally and provincially.
The Lambton Federation of Agriculture has heard from the participants and the public that they would like to continue with the Locally Lambton brand.
We are excited to announce that we are moving forward at this time with this new, refreshed and fully integrated mobile website offering all new features and increased ease of accessibility.
Were you a participant in our previous editions of the printed Maps?
Are you a farm-gate producer and seller, or run a farm market or winery/brewery?
Are you an artisan, produce specialty items, or run an attraction in Lambton County?
This website features Google Maps on the main page, with colour coded icon pins locating your business.
You may list in multiple categories if applicable at no extra charge. Your profile will have the ability to upload a logo, photos, and a free-form description. This will also be fully editable by you at all times.
The physical map will be revisited within two years, and if the board proceeds with a print version details will be shared with the online participants at that time, prior to opening to the public.
The cost for an annual marketing package on locallylambton.com is $50/year.
